Steve is an IT professional who is passionate about
people. If he has learnt one thing in nearly thirty years in technology it is
that the technology is always easier than the people who have to use it - not
because the people are inherently difficult but because they are being asked to
change how they work. Managing this process of technical and human change is one
of his areas of expertise. This has ranged from introducing computer systems to
hardened detectives, through the installation of major systems such as document
management to making hot-desking work with surveyors. Steve's substantial
experience of managing and running IT in both the public and private sector
enables him to focus on identifying the real business needs so they can lead the
technology change and the right resources can be put into enabling the people to
draw real value from the systems.
As Director of Information Systems at Drivers Jonas, Steve was responsible for
all aspects of IT and telecommunications. His career there spanned over two
decades during which he took the firm from a handful of terminals to a
sophisticated international network capable of supporting a constantly changing
business. At the Metropolitan Police he worked on some of most secure state of
the art intelligence systems. He has operated as an independent consultant to
the legal and property industries and presented at a variety of technology
conferences. | |
